While Maxime and Issy were training together they discovered a lot of similarities between both disciplines. While working with minimal equipment they both focus on functional exercises which in turn improve your movements in everyday life. Yoga is a great way to enhance mobility, flexibility, and mind-body connection.
While calisthenics accentuates strength, endurance and body awareness. While training together Issy and Maxime discovered that by integrating this into one workout you get the best from both worlds that leads to eventually a more balanced, empowered, and harmonious life..

The awesome thing is that yoga and calisthenics are very accessible to anyone since we are working with our own bodyweight and every exercise can be modified.

Issy started her yoga journey after years of suffering from back pain scoliosis, causing lots of physical and mental issues. She wants to encourage people to live a healthy lifestyle through yoga, mobility and movement to enhance the joint’s mobility. Her class combines modern movements and mindfulness. She gives various modifications. She believes that ‘yoga is not about the poses, so don’t let the poses define you. We use them as a tool to connect and learn deeper within ourselves’.

Getting to Verdad from the airports
We can help arrange a shuttle/driver pick-up from either Liberia ( LIR) Costa Rica or Managua (MGA) Nicaragua. Verdad is about a 2.5 hour drive from both airports. Transfers. We will set up a Whatsapp group near the time of the retreat for those wanting to share transfers.
A visa is not required for this destination for a stay of up to 90 days. Please keep in mind that while a visa is not required, you must: Hold a passport valid for at least six months beyond your date of country exit and with one blank visa page.
Nicaragua has come a long way in the last several decades. Since the Nicaraguan Revolution of 1978-1979, it has become the safest country in the region, outdoing both Costa Rica and Panama on this front. Although this developing nation is one of the poorest in the Western hemisphere, it is a beautifully diverse and culturally rich country that is remarkably safe, with low crime rates. Tourists should use normal, common sense when traveling around Nicaragua.
The weather at Verdad from mid-November through April is a temperate 75 (24°C) to 85 (29°C) degrees Fahrenheit both night and day. You may experience a few light morning showers and a handful of windy days but mostly sunny during these months.
We want our guests to be as comfortable as possible; however we are mindful of our electricity use. All of our cabins are situated and designed to take full advantage of the near constant breezes on our hilltop. They each have a powerful ceiling fan as well which makes a great alternative to air conditioning and keeps everyone comfortably cool. The two habitation/rooms by our pool have both fans and air-conditioners.
Our check in time is 3pm, although you are welcome to come earlier and hang out at the beach or restaurant if you arrive before and your room is not ready. Check out time is 11:00 am, but we are happy to accommodate a late checkout whenever there is availability. Also, you may safely leave your luggage at reception at checkout time, and you’re welcome to spend a little extra time relaxing here at Verdad Nicaragua before taking off.
Absolutely! Issy and Maxime have thousands of hours of teaching experience under their belts. They can offer endless options and variations so everyone can practice at their own level. The most important aspect is to have fun while exploring the capabilities of your body at your own pace and under the professional guidance of your trainers.

- 8-10 am Yoga & Calisthenics practice
- 10.30-12.00 am Full Nicaraguan Brunch Afternoon
- 14.00 – 17.0 You may opt to participate for the activity of the day. This could be hiking, surfing, boat trip & snorkeling, cold plunge, yoga workshop, stretching & relaxation.
- 18.30 – 19.30 Dinner
To allow for a more relaxing stay here at the resort we recommend that guests wishing to leave tips for the staff do so upon check out, rather than each time service is provided. Any tips left are at the total discretion of the guest and can either be given to specific persons, departments, or left with the front desk to be shared amongst all staff. It is customary and we recommend leaving a 10% tip for our staff.
The USD is readily accepted in most parts of Nicaragua. Verdad and most other establishments in our area accept dollars but will give you change back in the local currency. Please note that all of Verdad’s prices are in US dollars. The closest ATM, which dispenses both cordobas and US dollars, is located in the village of San Juan del Sur which is a 20-25 minute drive.
